Perched on steep, terraced slopes near the Piedmont Valle d'Aosta border, Ferrando is the benchmark producer of Carema, an Alpine Nebbiolo often called "mountain Barolo". The Ferrando family has crafted wine here continuously since the late 1950s, cultivating vines using the traditional topia system, stone pillared pergolas that shelter the fruit from the region's cold nights.

Their 'Etichetta Bianca' (White Label) 2018 is a refined, terroir driven expression of 100% Nebbiolo grown on glacial moraine and slate soils. Following total destemming, the wine ferments with indigenous yeasts and macerates on the skins for around ten days, before ageing for a generous 36 months, largely in neutral Slavonian oak botti. The result is an elegant, intense garnet red wine with a bouquet of spicy, floral notes, dried flowers and rose petals, layered over red berry fruit, and a palate marked by fine tannins, bright acidity, and a long, mineral driven finish. A distinguished mountain Nebbiolo with an exceptional capacity to age gracefully for decades.
